Six Nations Calcutta Cup
A little bit of history is important for those interested in the Calcutta Cup which gets its roots from the days of the Raj in India as the Calcutta Cricket Club presented the trophy in 1879 to the Rugby Football Union in England. The Calcutta Football Club is the oldest rugby club in the world outside the UK. The club introduced rugby in India and continues to be the sport's major promoter there to this day.
The game between England and Scotland is the match which plays for the Calcutta Cup each season as there can be no greater rivalry in any sport between these two home nations and no quarter is given or taken in this match as the victory gets a trophy and needless to say that England have won it more times than not.
